What our patients say

“He is so patient and understanding and listened to my questions.”

I was seen by Dr. Pelto in the office for a severely sore toe and back of heel pain. I had some X-rays that shows a broken toe. I also have strained Achilles tendon. I was shown such incredible empathy. He is so patient and understanding and listened to my questions. His medical assistant was such a great help as well. Her name was skye and she was so caring. Very happy with my experience with Dr. Pelto and his staff.

“His staff is the best! From the front desk, to scheduling, to the cast room all were a joy!”

Dr Saviet is kind, caring, and attentive. During both pre-op and post stop he listens to any concerns and explains what to expect without making you feel rushed. Truly a great Dr. His staff is the best! From the front desk, to scheduling, to the cast room all were a joy!

“Should have come here immediately after my injury and not wasted time and money at the urgent care center.”

Fabulous explanation of plan for care. Should have come here immediately after my injury and not wasted time and money at the urgent care center.

Who is on our plantar fasciitis treatment team?

When treating plantar fasciitis we rarely work in isolation. A team approach tends to work better to get better outcomes. A simple way to think about the treatment team are those businesses and professionals that help treat plantar fasciitis before to seeing us in the the office or after seeing us.

Who would you see before coming to the podiatrist for plantar fasciitis?

  • Urgent Care and Primary Care - Usually when someone is in pain they want help quick and go to an urgent care or primary care clinic for help. This rarely provides relief but allows some starting treatments such as stretching, anti-inflammatories and maybe x-ray.
  • Shoe Store - Many patients who struggle with plantar fasciitis try buying new shoes or inserts prior to seeing a doctor. If you have spent more than $300 on shoes, sandals and inserts they probably won’t fix your problem and it would be best to see a professional.
  • Chiropractor - Frequently patients go to a chiropractor or massage therapy professional prior to seeing us in the office. This can be helpful at times but if your symptoms are not resolved in the first few visits it is best to seek a specialist.

Who do we refer you to as part of our team?

  • Shoe Store - Most of our patients are referred to a shoe store to get new shoes or sandals if they have not tried that yet or are in inappropriate shoe gear.
  • Physical Therapy - We frequently refer to physical therapy as part of our approach to treatment. We find that patients get better faster with physical therapy and they look at other causes of heel pain at the hip, core and calf region.

Kids are back to school

Don’t tell mom about this one. Our kids are back to school but the days prior dad was preparing breakfast for the kids.

This is NOT the breakfast of champions but is one of their favorite a tortilla with nutella.

Usually I am the one that evenly spreads the chocolatey goodness but today I was feeling more benevolent and allowed the kids to make their own breakfast.

You can see here my daughter has caked on the topping.

To make my conscience feel better I told mom that I made them breakfast with nuts, after all hazelnut is a nut, I think.

Next week I will share a story of our escapade picking raspberries in one our family trips prior to school starting.

Question of the Week - Will my plantar fasciitis ever get better?

Frequently patients are discouraged with painful plantar fasciitis and they in desperation ask if they will ever feel better. The short answers is if you get treatment most plantar fasciitis can be resolved with few patients needing surgery. However if you don’t get appropriate treatment this condition can last for longer periods of time and it can be more challenging to treat. One of the main reasons for this is the thickening of the plantar fascia causing “fasciosis.” I will talk more about this next week.

If you feel like your plantar fasciitis isn’t getting better give us a call!
