What feels like a wart but isn’t?

Did you know?

What our patients say

“They got me in on short notice on a Friday”

Would highly recommend this group. They got me in on short notice on a Friday which allowed a quick diagnosis and a boot to go! The whole staff was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional.

“Want to thank his fantastic staff that also involved in my care.”

Great experience! Dr. Pelto showed so much empathy regarding my injuries. Spent a great deal of time with me, answering all my questions. Want to thank his fantastic staff that also was involved in my care. Thank you Skye for all your attentiveness.

Sweet Success: Our First Sleepover Bake-Off

Our home recently hosted its first sleepover, and the kids were bursting with excitement. One of the highlights of the evening was a bake-off competition, courtesy of my daughter's clever idea.

The challenge? To whip up the best cake possible within a 30-minute timeframe. The kids got to work, and the aromas wafting from the kitchen were incredible.

In the end, a decadent chocolate cake with caramel frosting took the top prize. But here's the thing: even the "losing" cakes were scrumptious! The sleepover was a blast, with the kids coming up with all sorts of fun activities. And although they vowed to stay up all night, they eventually succumbed to their sleepy eyes.

What feels like a wart but isn’t?

Many patients come in to the office and think they have a wart but do not have a wart. That is why it is important if you use home remedies and they don’t work you should come to see a professional in the office.

The most common condition that is misrepresented as a wart is a porokeratoma. This is a circular deep callus that is mostly found on the bottom of the foot. Sometimes this can be caused by pressure on the bottom of the foot or because of incorrect shoes.

Many times these calluses are painful that is what brings people into the office. Many patients try to pick them out with their fingernails after soaking their feet but that usually doesn’t work too well.

If you come into the office and we find out that you have a porokeratoma we will usually remove it with a scalpel (don’t worry it doesn’t hurt) and many times we will apply an acid to the center to slough off more of the hard skin in that region.

I recorded a short video (3 minutes) about these painful buggers if you want to watch it HERE.
