Man cold (enough said)
Hey there! So, I recently came down with a man cold. Yep, you read that right - a man cold! It's a real thing, folks! And let me tell you, it's no joke.
My Story
I was working away, seeing patients, when suddenly, I started feeling a little off. My throat glands were swollen, and I knew I was in trouble. I tried to fight it off with Airborne, but alas, it was too late. I was hit with a full-blown man cold!
Now, I know what you're thinking - "Sympathy? Ha! You're a doctor, suck it up, buttercup!" But hear me out. I tested negative for Covid (thank goodness!), but I still needed some TLC. So, I donned a sign on my back, courtesy of my sweet daughter, and headed to work. (see picture below)
Compassion In The Office
Now, our clinic is mostly female staff, and let's say, the sympathy levels vary. Some days, I get pity; others, I get teased mercilessly! I even informed Rebecca, the office manager, hoping she'd spread the word and garner some extra sympathy, but it didn’t work though.
Medications and Remedies
When I was raised in Minnesota, we never took meds. When sick, I was told to rest and push through. But now, I've learned to alternate Tylenol and ibuprofen from Dr. Saviet (a bigger baby than me, apparently ). Today I took Alka-Seltzer cold and sinus so I could function during the day.
Sick Day Routine
When sick, I revert to my roots—watching karate movies and eating comfort food! Tonight, I'm watching Amazon Prime with lots of popcorn, chips, and chocolate.
I know I will be feeling better soon,
- Dr. Pelto
